WaterlineLengthThe need for speed. One important aspect of a kayak that helps determine its maximum speed is the waterline length. As you can see with the Cooper (below), its long, thin hull is designed for speed. The Citibot (above) cannot boast the same maximum speed but is lighter and has a shorter turning radius.
